FORTE (Forest Owners Research and Technology Exchange) welcomes Scotch Land Management to the Research Exchange!
After spending some time with some key members of this team over the last few months, one thing is clear: The Scotch team is passionate and professional in regards to their forest management, and, when they come to an Exchange, they bring something to the table (a contribution of insight, effort and experience). I and the other members of the Forest Owners Research and Technology Exchange will benefit from their involvement.
With land and business ties going back to 1888, Scotch Land Management and Scotch Plywood have a strong history of forest management and forest product milling in Mississippi and Alabama. They also have a considerable footprint (over 415,000 acres under management) and thus a large realized positive impact.
Beyond our normal focuses of genetics, density, and management, Scotch brings a strong and welcome focus on wood quality. This is a great fit for FORTE's existing and future research platform. Special thanks to Rusty Booker, John Gates, and Gray Skipper for recent contributions. We look forward to further interaction with the Scotch Team.
