They are emerging quickly—from the grass stage! Hunter Pruitt recently snapped this picture of longleaf pines early in the 2nd growing season. These are part of FORTE’s (Forest Owners Research and Technology Exchange) Species x Density x Management Intensity Study located on Toledo Manufacturing’s timberland base in Folkston, Georgia. We are working with gracious hosts Joe Hopkins and Chris Gowen there to compare the financial returns from Longleaf, loblolly, and slash pine on Leon sand soils at different densities and management intensities. Contact me for information on participation in the Forest Owners Research and Technology Exchange. Leverage our group to find answers to your genetic and silvicultural questions!
